Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, your authentication is handled by Clerk, a third-party identity provider. We receive your name, email address, and profile details necessary to operate your account. We do not store your password directly.
Business Listing Data
If you claim or create a business listing, we collect business name, address, contact information, category, description, photos, and other details you provide to display your listing on the platform.
Reviews and Interactions
We collect the content of reviews you submit, ratings, verification status, and associated metadata such as timestamps and verification method (Stripe payment, QR scan, or business confirmation).
PoP (Proof of Personhood) Data
Your PoP score is calculated based on verified interactions on the platform. This includes verification events, trust tier history, and behavioral consistency metrics.
Payment Information
Payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe. We do not store your credit card numbers, bank account details, or other sensitive payment information on our servers. We receive transaction confirmations and subscription status from Stripe.
Analytics and Usage Data
We collect anonymous usage data such as pages visited, features used, device type, and browser information to improve the platform experience.
How We Use Your Information

- 2.Fraud detection via The Shield — our AI-powered system analyzes review patterns, velocity, and sentiment to detect and prevent fake reviews, review bombing, and bot activity.
- 3.PoP score calculation — your Proof of Personhood score is computed from verified interactions to establish trust and authenticity on the platform.
- 4.Communication — sending account notifications, service updates, and responding to support requests.
- 5.Legal compliance — meeting legal obligations, resolving disputes, and enforcing our terms of service.
Empire Chain Blockchain
MyBusinessTree uses Empire Chain, our custom blockchain built with SHA-256 hashing. Reviews, PoP score changes, verification events, and fraud detection flags are permanently recorded on the blockchain.
Important: Immutability by Design
Blockchain records are permanent and cannot be deleted, modified, or hidden once written. This is a fundamental feature of the system, not a limitation. It ensures that review history and trust records remain tamper-proof and transparent for all participants.
While your account information and personal details can be deleted upon request, blockchain entries (such as anonymized review hashes and PoP score changes) will remain on the chain as they are cryptographically linked to subsequent blocks.
Third-Party Services
Clerk (Authentication)

Data Retention and Deletion

As noted above, blockchain records on Empire Chain are immutable by design and cannot be deleted. However, these records contain cryptographic hashes and anonymized data, not directly identifiable personal information.
Payment records may be retained as required by financial regulations and tax law.
Children's Privacy
MyBusinessTree is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@mybusinesstree.com and we will promptly delete the information.
